Maa Behen Movie Plot
Rekha is a strong and independent widow who lives alone in Adarsh Colony. Although she has raised her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma, she is often judged by her neighbours because of rumours about her character. Jaya is married and lives in Patna with her controlling husband, Manas, while Sushma is a social media influencer who is staying with Jaya after a public controversy.
One night, Rekha's neighbour, Charitra Kumar Gupta, discovers that she has secretly taken money from the wine shop where she works. When he threatens to expose her, Rekha invites him to her house to ask for time to return the money. Misunderstanding her intentions, Gupta tries to force himself on her. During the struggle, Rekha pushes him away, and he falls unconscious after hitting his head. Believing he is dead, Rekha calls her daughters home for help.
As they try to dispose of the body, they realise Gupta is still alive. Fearing that he will report Rekha once he wakes up, they decide to keep him tied up and unconscious for two days while Rekha replaces the missing money. However, their plan quickly becomes complicated when Gupta's family starts searching for him, Manas unexpectedly arrives, and Sushma's dishonest biological father returns demanding money. At the same time, Gupta's family receives a ransom call asking for money for his safe return, creating confusion and suspicion among everyone.
The growing pressure brings out long-hidden family tensions. Jaya confronts Manas about his controlling behaviour, reveals that she only married him to protect her reputation, exposes his infertility, and accuses him of mistreating Sushma. She throws him out of the house and decides to seek a divorce.
When Gupta regains consciousness, he attempts to blackmail Rekha by demanding her house in exchange for his silence. He continues to harass and insult the three women. Refusing to remain victims, Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma work together to trap him. They drug him, take compromising photographs, and threaten to make them public. Gupta's wife finds him in Rekha's house, destroying his image as a respectable man. Rekha then openly explains that she acted in self-defence after Gupta tried to assault her, leaving him unable to accuse her without exposing his own actions.
Several months later, the women discover that the ransom call was made by Gupta's daughter, Goldie. She had secretly saved the money to escape her arranged marriage and follow her dream of becoming a singer. After seeing her father enter Rekha's house that night, she used the situation to recover her lost savings. The story ends with Goldie, now performing under her real name Hema on national television, while Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma leave behind the judgment of their neighbourhood and move forward together as a stronger family.
